English Walnut Cookies

On a weekend getaway from LA, my wife and I went up to my hometown, Ojai to visit family and relax a bit. But of course, I see some slabs of wood outside someone's home and had to stop to check them out. The guy was a local arborist and salvages any lumber he can when owners cut down trees. He had a lot to choose from but I saw these English Walnut cookies in the stack and thought they'd make awesome tables.

Got them in the shop this week, flattening and sanding. I flattened them today and the grain is looking awesome. One of them even looks like a monkey face.
