Meisch Made - Landscapes
Meisch Made is now offering our design services outdoor as well as indoor. Our focus is in permaculture design where design can not only be beautiful but also functional and beneficial to all life forms. Permaculture design is a wholistic approach to land management and uses a wide range of disciplines to create a sustainable and permanent agricultural system. Our aim is to create landscapes that increases in value, productivity and diversity over time as the system evolves into a fully expressed ecosystem.
Whether it’s a new house build, a rainwater collection system, food forest design, or a simple garden box we can get you started on your path to abundance.
Our offerings:
Garden design and construction
Soil studies and remediation
Food forest design, installations, and ongoing maintenance
Earthworks, rainwater catchment and water management.
Consultations and map design including topographical maps, solar paths, and sector analysis.

Core belief: You are your land’s greatest designer.
We can design the most perfect garden based on the topography, the climate, and all the features of your land but we can never interact with the system on a daily basis and experience all the relationships and subtleties which take place. As we implement any design, things change. We see but a snapshot of a landscape at any given time, it is always in flux and never going towards an “ideal” destination but always evolving. It is our belief that the best steward of any land is the one on it, day after day, observing and interacting with the elements that we place and the resources available.
What is permaculture?
In short, permanent agriculture. We aim for creating ecosystems that support all life, not just humans, that increase in productivity, yield, diversity and complexity. This can be scaled to any size home, urban, suburban, or rural. It involves many different disciplines woven together to create a holistic design to any landscape, in any climate. It’s not just gardening. It’s not just chickens. It’s how the human, the garden and the chicken interact. It’s about relationships. How does one element relate to the other? How can we improve the efficiency? We focus on absorbing the beneficial energies coming into your site and blocking or mitigating the negative energies.
Instead of asking from the land “what can I get from you?” Ask, what can this land offer if I choose to harmonize with it? Our home should carry us through life. It should provide more than just shelter. In the modern world it can provide energy, food, and drinkable water and should be looked at as the center of our system and expand outward. If we take care of the land it will take care of us.
CONSULTATIONS
The process starts with a free 30 minute interview to get the scope of your project and to learn as much about you as possible. After that we offer the following options:
Option 1: Remote consultations: Overview of property and scope of project. We research historical maps, Google earth images, topographical maps and any other relevant information pertaining to your land or project. Via phone call, Skype, or zoom. $250/hr
Option 2: On site visit: There’s nothing better than getting the lay of the land in person. We offer in person consultations mostly in the Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties but traveling consultations can also be arranged.
$250/hr plus cost of travel.
Option 3: Full assessment and design: Let us offer our best design. With this option we gather all the necessary information and put them together in an overlay to get the most accurate assessment to implement our design. We gather species lists, historical information, calculate water run-off and harvesting potential, place elements and arrange them according to your needs to make the best use of your land. Further implementation can also be arranged as well as long term maintenance plans.
